We run a thriving junior section offering local children the opportunity to participate in the game of cricket in safe surroundings with excellent facilities. Our ECB qualified coaches and assistants organise cricket for young players and run age group teams at U11, U13 and U15 as well as 2 Kwik cricket teams for the U10 age group, these teams are open to both boys and girls. We also work with local schools to try and promote participation in cricket we are hoping to work with Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club to further expand this area of work so that we can provide coaching to children at local schools.
The club is registered with the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board and the England & Wales Cricket Board. We have gained the ECB Clubmark accreditation. ECB Clubmark is the ECB’s club accreditation scheme for cricket clubs with junior sections. Clubs are required to meet minimum standards across four key areas; Duty of Care and Safeguarding Children; the Cricket Programme the club offers, knowing your club and its Community – One Game and Club Management. Achieving ECB Clubmark accreditation is an acknowledgement that we take these issues seriously and that we are striving to provide a high quality and welcoming environment for young participants in cricket.
We have 5 adult teams who play on Saturday afternoons. The 1st team play in the Notts Premier League (currently champions, have won the premier league 10 times), the 2nd team play in the top division of the South Notts League and the 3rd team play in the top division of the Bassetlaw League. The 4th and 5th teams also play in the South Notts League.
We have a rich history of producing young players, many have gone on to play first class cricket and some have played international cricket. We have also had many high profile players come and play for the club as club professionals. Players such as; Bilal Shafayat (current first team captain), Usman Afzaal, Gemaal Hussain, Corey Collymore, Chris Lewis, Alex Tudor and Saqlain Mushtaq are a few of the players who have represented the club over the years.
Our junior sides have also had a very successful history and we are hoping to expand this further in the coming years as we believe our youth section is the lifeblood of our club. The club draws players from all over Nottingham but particularly from the inner city areas where there is a lot of deprivation and poverty and the club gives the young people the opportunity to express themselves in an organised and friendly sporting environment. Cricket provides not just an opportunity for physical activity and development of the skills of the game but provides a unique environment to develop key life skills such as team work and respect that will hold youngsters in good stead in their future lives.
